In General
Throughout this course, the students will work with a so-called Learning Document. This is an online document in Google Docs wherein they will save all their assignments. By keeping track of all the exercises, we enable the students to reflect on their own work, provide each other with feedback and process feedback as they go. As a teacher, you will be added to this document. This means you can easily comment, suggest edits and change material as you see fit. In order to be able to do this, students must have your e-mail address. This address should be linked to a Google account. If you don't have one, you can easily create a new (free) account online.
The students start with Rotterdam and end with Liberation. This course leaves enough space to incorporate different events during the war. The students will take the lesson individually, but there are a few collaborative assignments.
As a final product the students will make a documentary about a hypothetical scenario and they we will write a diary entry from a certain perspective. In order to create this product, students need several language tools. Throughout the 10 lessons they will have no problem acquiring these.
Important to keep in mind for this course is that some students may be a bit more sensitive to certain topics due to family history or other factors. I would highly advise you to keep an eye on those students.

Every lesson about Rotterdam starts with a zaption page except for lesson 3The analytics of these videos can be requested by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Other assignments will either find their way to the students' Google Docs or are solely practice.
Liberation
Every Liberation-lesson starts with a Zaption. The analytics of these videos can be requested by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Other assignments will either find their way to the students' Google Docs or are solely practice.
All the games in the lesson series have a ranking system and show which student played the games best. The students can play the games as often as they wish and thereby better themselves. Rewarding the first and runner-up may lead to extra motivation.

Written Test
The written test is meant to have beneficial backwash, for the test is built for communication. Instead of reproducing grammar or translating words, the focus is on direct implementation and application. Apart from that, the test is based on our final objectives, which are already communicative. The testing of the four main skills also addresses vocabulary and grammar that has been explained throughout the chapter, which creates spin-off.
Process Report
Please be advised that the feedback we received at the Dragon's den can be found here. We have taken some of the advice given by adding more pictures and simplifying/shortening a few texts. We have not adjusted the target group. Irene's students at VMBO 3 went through the website and none of them had difficulty with the level of English. Some students required an English-English dictionary for some of the texts and only a couple of students requested an explanation from the teacher. The students said they did not understand every single word but were perfeclty able to grasp the general idea. They were all able to do the assignments although the level of output was a bit lower than aimed for - which is quite logical since it's VMBO and not HAVO.
